The SRD-V2 packs are 2P (2 cells in parallel). Smart Battery Technology — One Smart Connection

When connected to a Spektrum^™ Smart charger, a Smart G2 battery's unique parameters, health, and balancing information upload automatically from its memory microchip through the IC3^® or IC5^® connector's data wire. This is a ProTek R/C 1800mAh LiFe Hump Receiver Battery Pack. Lithium battery technology is evolving. With cell dimensions that fit anywhere a standard Li-Poly battery will and rapidly increasing capacity, LiFePO4 chemistry will soon set the standard that all others are judged by. With the ability to deliver 1000+ usable cycles, and a life span up to 4 times longer than Li-Poly batteries (when cycled under the same discharge conditions), these batteries offer the user an excellent balance of performance and value. LiFe batteries are more durable than Li-Poly and are able to handle a higher level of abuse when compared to LiPo without the risk of pre-mature failure. Unlike LiPo, LiFe cells can be stored in a fully charged state with little to no loss in stored power, and can be discharged deeper with less risk of damage to the cells. Most importantly, LiFe batteries are SAFE! There is no risk of combustion! LiFe cells will not catch fire or explode when over charged, or after a deep discharge.

What about the voltage?
A 2 Cell LiFe battery produces 6.6 volts nominal, which is almost a full volt less than a 2 Cell LiPo battery. The LiFe battery is not meant to replace the performance of a Li-Po battery, it is simply another option. LiFe offers the user a battery with a good discharge curve that is better than that of a NiMH battery, but without the risk of damage or fire that exists when a LiPo battery is abused. Additionally, when used as a receiver pack, a LiFe battery eliminates the need for a voltage regulator, which reduces the risk of failure by eliminating a component that could potentially fail. 

NOTE: Brand new LiFePO4 batteries have been found to fail prematurely if they are deep discharged below 33% capacity too early. A break-in period of 20 cycles is currently recommended. While testing has shown that this battery can be charged at up to 3C rates, it recommended that this battery not be charged at rates higher than 1C to maximize the lifespan of the battery. Additionally, LiFe batteries should not be discharged below 2.5V per cell to avoid pre-mature failure and maximize battery life span.

We also recommend you REMOVE the batteries from your cars, or at least unplug them to avoid accidental over discharge if the unit is left on.

How should the battery be inserted into the transmitter?

This is the ProTek R/C Li-Poly 2800 Transmitter Battery Pack and is intended for use with Futaba, JR, Spektrum and KO Propo Transmitters that use a 4x4 AA Battery Tray. This light weight Li-Poly transmitter battery is designed to reduce the overall weight of your transmitter, which is great for those long main events or long flying days! The overall weight of your transmitter will be significantly reduced over the use of typical NiMh transmitter packs (155 grams compared to 225 grams for eight typical NiMH AA batteries!). Try to hold a pack of eight traditional AA size batteries and compare it with this Li-Poly Transmitter pack. The feeling is just awesome, and you get an incredible 9 to 10 hours of run time! 

This battery pack is compatible with some Futaba and JR aircraft and helicopters transmitters with modifications. For Futaba air transmitters, you will need to swap the polarity of the positive and negative leads on this battery, as the KO radios use the reverse polarity compared to Futaba radios. You can use a small Exacto style #11 blade to pop up the connectors holding the pins in place, so you can remove them and swap them around.

For JR aircraft transmitters that use the small white battery connector, you can use the ProTek R/C transmitter adapter (PTK-5221) to adapt this battery for some JR air transmitters. Once again you will have to follow the instructions above to reverse the polarity of the power leads on this battery to use it in a JR air transmitter.

Runtime:
Don’t be thrown off by the capacity rating of Li-Poly battery packs, as you will get awesome runtime out this pack! Given that Li-Poly battery packs provide a higher nominal voltage (11.1V nominal), the actual capacity of the battery pack when compared to a typical NiMH battery pack (9.6V nominal) is about 15% more than the rated value (so this pack would be about the same as a 3200mAh NiMH pack in total capacity).

Its intuitive interface allows users to monitor charging progress and make setting changes with ease. An on-screen clock counts the minutes in real time until your Smart battery is fully charged and ready to use. When it's time to update the charger firmware, that's easy, too. A USB input port is conveniently located on the front of the case. No special cables are required. For example, Spektrum^™ Smart G2 technology makes balancing charge your LiPo batteries much easier. Balancing information travels through the unique data wire of each Smart G2 battery's innovative IC3^® connector. As a result, only a single connection is needed — no separate balance lead is required.

Smart G2 batteries come from the factory programmed to discharge automatically to a safe storage voltage of 3.90V after 72 hours of inactivity. The benefits include longer battery life, better performance over the life of the pack, and the peace of mind that comes from knowing your Smart battery is maintenance-free. You can change the battery's Auto Storage settings based on your preferences. G2 batteries also offer a storage discharge rate that's three times faster than the previous G1 Smart batteries.

As with other Smart batteries, you'll never have to set your charging preferences for a Spektrum^™ Smart G2 battery until you want to. When a Smart G2 LiPo battery is connected to a Spektrum^™ Smart charger, its unique charging parameters and health information upload to the charger from the battery's integrated memory microchip. You can view and set preferences such as charge rates through the charger, so everything required to charge the pack is connecting it to your Smart charger. Smart technology takes care of the rest.
